Ios7 was a great upgrade once the little fiddly things got worked out (at which point I moved from 6). I stupidly put my laptop on lion, which is as high as it will go, and I definitely see it working less efficiently, and ios8 has nothing I want. What I don't understand is that apple had a really good system going from a productivity standpoint, why break it just in the name of something new? From my only semi-knowledgable point of view, snow leopard was awesome and ios7 seemed to get it right. (Although I'm being sarcastic, that seems to be the truth from many people I see). Productivity really means getting your thoughts to Facebook and twitter in less time. Why on earth would you want the option of keeping a working operating system when instead you could upgrade to take phone calls on your iPad and reduce your battery life? Music making is overrated anyway. Sure, they might have handled things a great deal better but it's Apple and the AppStore model that's left us in the lurch! An uncomfortable lesson to learn but a valuable one. And let's face it, Apple is the vendor here (under EU law, at least), not Camel Audio, and as such is responsible for customer support.

After all, it is they that created the AppStore and an ecosystem that encourages (nay, necessitates) users relying on AppStore servers to reinstall and restore apps to their iDevices.Īpple takes a hefty 30% cut of everything sold through their monopoly distribution system but they fail to protect the interests of their customers against catastrophic failures such as the overnight failure (due to whatever cause) of app developers.

What I don't understand is why everyone seems to be reserving their criticising for Camel Audio alone, while completely ignoring the implicit duty of care that Apple has to their customers. Good for you for venting your frustration, Doug
